WD 2021 campaign theme: #ChooseToChallenge
Every year on March 8th the world celebrates International Women’s Day. It’s a day for everyone to celebrate women and come together to help women gain more equality. So today especially you should try to:
- celebrate women’s achievements
- raise awareness about women’s equality
- lobby for accelerated gender parity
- fundraise for female-focused charities
This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is ‘Choose to Challenge’. We are all responsible for our thoughts and actions, and so sometimes we must be able to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. The campaign hopes to show that if we all challenge inequality and bias then we can come together to help create an inclusive world.
To celebrate IWD United Nations is holding a virtual event, with the theme of “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world on the way to the Generation Equality Forum”. It includes special guest speakers and panels, and you can register for the event and see what it includes here: https://www.unwomen.org/en/news/events/2021/03/event-international-womens-day-2021#view
